The need of new research in acne treatment

Despite the confusion concerning the cause of acne, there have been several advances in treatments. Of course, there will be no cure available until the mystery of acne has been solved, but there are programs of control for acne. Some doctors feel that washing regularly with soap and water is the best, but it produces defatting and drying of the skin. More profound drying and peeling of skin can be accomplished with over-the- counter lotions, creams and soaps containing combinations of resorcinol, sulphur and salicylic acid. These preparations are widely used for the treatment of “mild” acne and it is supposed to help reduce the severity of the problem. The two topical medications that are being extensively used by some dermatologists for more severe acne are Acnezine and Vitamin A acid (read more about acnezine). Read more…
